Hey, bloggers today in our call we read an article about Malala Yousafzai and we made a slide about some words that we had to find the meaning of and we had to write the meaning down and then we had to pick two quotes that she said and then we had to blog it so that's what I have done so yea. how your week going mine has been fun cause it has been really nice weather and i have been doing lots of running and biking and walking my dog, what about you guys let me know what you have been doing? bye have a great week.

Hey, bloggers during the week we had to go into quarantine for the rest of the week. But on Monday we made some poems we had to make one about winter and one about anything we want and I choose rugby, I picked rugby because I love rugby and I thought it would be cool to write about rugby and so that's what I did so I hope you enjoy it. How was your first day of quarantine? Mine was good cause I didn't have to do much learning, It's always good to have a day off school and have a break at home sitting around watching tv or playing games, What did you do on the first day? comment and tell me I would love to know. Mystical Matariki Kites

Happy Matariki everyone! 

On the 2 July, we celebrated the Māori New Year, a time to consider the year ahead. The days are starting to lengthen and spring will soon be here, we just need to get through this cold winter first! 

Matariki and the Pleiades star cluster, have got many stories attached to them. We looked at two; one about how Ranginui and Papatuanuku were separated by Tāne Mahuta, and how Tāwhirimatea was so angry he ripped out his eyes and threw thunderbolts to the sky, creating the cluster, and another story about 7 sisters making kites, and them going to the sky. Ururangi’s kite was different from the rest, it was rainbow-colored. We have mixed these two stories to create the design of our kites.

My kite has Tawhirimatea and the wind represented with the clouds. I then colored it in as a rainbow.

Gorilla information report

Hey, bloggers today I have a post about gorillas. threw the past 2 weeks we have been learning about animals. So in week 6, we went to Orana wildlife park and we learnt about some endangered animals there. and we got to pick between a certain amount of animals they were gorillas, Giraffes, rhinos, and tigers. And I picked gorillas so that's what I have been researching about and so I have gathered some information. STEAM

 

hey bloggers I have got another post about STEAM, We have been doing science for the past 4 weeks but today we did something different we had to make a table that could support the weight of 1 book or as much as we could and my team managed to get 10 books and we got 2nd place. our table was a really strong table. So the materials we had to use were 10 pieces of newspaper and 1 meter of tape.

Hectors dolphin

 

Hey, bloggers back with another post about hectors dolphin. So for literacy, we have been learning about endangered animals from new Zealand and I have chosen the hector's dolphin which is one of the rarest dolphins in the world also they are the smallest of all dolphin. so I have made we video for you guys and it is like one of those videos that are made to give a message out to people to say to them to save the hector's dolphin.  Hey, bloggers back with another post on Science, and today we were doing science. so we were in a group of two and we got a kit with 1 ruler a half compass and some pencils and that's is so we had to use the half compass to poke them in different places on their body and they had to guess if it was two or one   and we had to see what part of the body was most sensitive and i think that the back of the knee was the most sensitive. so tell me what do you think would be the most sensitive?.

Orangutans

So we have been writing a report about orangutans and other animals but. we are mostly learning about indangerd animals, so tommorow are litracy are going to arana park to learn about indangerd animals. So we have been working on our report for about three weeks. And i think it has came along quite cool. So we made this robot in math because we are learning about angles and so we have to build this and then we had to measure the angles and get the right degrees. we made our robots on a google drawing.  Hey, blogger today we have been making a design to protect our egg from breaking. we had to drop it from sky-high witch is about 3 meters. Although ours did not work it was still really fun. So we had to use 3 pieces of A3 paper and one piece of A5 and a bit of tape and some. have you made one and did it survive so please tell me and comment. So thanks and bye see you next blog bye.

Letter Angels

For numeracy today, we have started to learn about angles.  

We learnt about 3 different angles today - acute (less than 90°), right angle (90°), and obtuse (larger than 90° but smaller than 180°).  We also learnt how to use a protractor to measure angles.  We know that we need to measure an angle from a vertice (a corner where two straight lines meet).

For our create task, we had to measure three different angles on the first letter of our name - can you  figure out if they are acute, right angle or obtuse?

Letter Home

 

Hey, blogger's I'm back with another post about the ANZAC war but it is a letter home from when you are at war and you send a letter home, and so that's what I have been doing. So during literacy, we have been learning about the war and we decided to make a letter like someone at war would send home to their loved ones, And that's what our literacy group has been doing so I'm going to post that. So tell me if you have learned anything about the war? or if you know about the war and comment and tell me?, And do you want to know a fact, Did you know that the ANZACS had a dog name Ceasar that went to war with them And saved hundreds of peoples lives. Storyboard that Refugees

For literacy, we have been reading Refugee by Alan Gratz.   We looked at the main character and picked 3 words to describe them.  I picked brave

For our create task, we had to use Storyboard, and pick one of our describing words to storyboard.  We needed to think about what happened just before that scene, and just after and how we could show emotion in our character's face.

I decided to pick brave  I showed this through when the Turkish man smuggles them to turkey.

Anzac Cove landing by the ANZACS

 

In literacy, at the moment we are learning about WW1 and in particular, the role the ANZACS played in it.

We know that the ANZACS landed at ANZAC cove on April 25th, 1915.  They arrived by boat, and were greeted by a beach that was in chaos, steep, rugged cliffs and the Turks firing at them from the top of the cliffs.

Many men lost their lives that day, many never made it to the beach.  The ones that did were about to start a long journey filled with tears, despair, and sadness.

This animation is to show the landing at ANZAC Cove.
